Care your Laptops for an Extended Life

Caring your Laptop is not a difficult task but this complex machine requires some serious attention.
Nowadays from students to businessman, most of them own a laptop. Most of them buy one without knowing the fact that they are investing a huge amount on something that is meant to last only for 3 to 4 years. Yes, it is true that most laptops are expected to work smoothly for only about 3 to 4 years. After that there are increased chances of some parts failing which amounts to a costly replacement. If unfortunate enough, you may have the entire machine dead.

Proper care for your laptop can definitely extend its life. Here are a few simple tips that can be followed to keep your laptops healthy.
  1. Avoid dust : Always try to use the laptop in a dust free zone. Dust can accumulate in its heat vents which can lead to high temperature inside.
  2. Clean regularly : Use a soft cloth to clean the device regularly. Carefully remove any particles accumulated in the keyboard.
  3. Keep it cool : Use the device in a cool place. Do not expose it to direct sunlight for long. Keep it away from any heated device.
  4. Keep it stable : Laptops are meant to be used on the move. But always try to avoid using it during a bumpy ride in a vehicle. The more shocks it is subjected to, the shorter will be its life.
  5. Disconnect charger when not in use : A plugged in charger get heated up when left for a long time. It can also cause the battery to get heated up and hence reducing its life.
  6. Use genuine spares : Make sure to use compatible and genuine spare part for your laptop. Do not compromise in quality for the few dollars you might save.
  7. Dim you screen : When running on batteries, reduce the screen brightness for enhanced battery life.
  8. Reduce usage time of CD/DVD : If possible, always run programmes from your hard disk. Running a CD/DVD increases the load on battery.
  9. Avoid external devices : External keyboards, mouse etc will drain the battery faster. Remove them whenever possible.
  10. Use latest software updates also avoid viruses : Use genuine softwares and apply the latest patches. Use a reliable anti virus software. Clean your hard disk regularly. These measures can increase the efficiency of your device.
The tips mentioned above are quite simple and easy to implement. Spend some time to maintain your laptop regularly and definitely you can get a few years of extended service from your Laptop.
